What’s in this Policy?
This Acceptable Use Policy (“Policy”) sets out the rules governing acceptable use of Study Slam, including its website, software, AI-enabled features, educational tools, APIs and related services (the “Service”).
By creating an account or using Study Slam, you agree to comply with this Policy.
We encourage users to report suspected security vulnerabilities, misuse, harmful content or violations of this Policy by contacting: support@studyslam.com
If you do not agree with this Policy, you must not use Study Slam.

This Policy forms part of your agreement with OpenGenius and should be read alongside:
- Study Slam Terms and Conditions;
- Study Slam Privacy Policy;
- Study Slam Software Licence Agreement;
- any applicable subscription, education or enterprise agreement.
Where a separate written agreement exists between OpenGenius and an organisation, that agreement will take precedence where it conflicts with this Policy.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time.
Where changes materially affect users, we will provide reasonable notice through appropriate channels, such as email or within Study Slam.
Continued use of Study Slam after updated terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
Lawful use
You may use Study Slam only for lawful purposes.
You must not use Study Slam:
- in breach of any applicable law or regulation;
- for unlawful, fraudulent or deceptive purposes;
- to infringe another person’s legal rights;
- to facilitate criminal activity;
- to breach applicable sanctions, export control or trade restriction laws;
- to harass, threaten, bully or discriminate against others;
- to distribute unlawful or harmful material.
Academic integrity
Study Slam is designed to support learning, revision and understanding.
Users remain responsible for ensuring that Study Slam is used in accordance with the academic integrity requirements of their educational institution.
You must not use Study Slam to:
- submit AI-generated work as your own where this is prohibited;
- deliberately misrepresent AI-generated material as original work;
- assist academic misconduct;
- facilitate plagiarism or examination malpractice;
- breach the assessment rules of your institution.
OpenGenius cannot determine the academic policies that apply to individual educational providers.
Users remain responsible for ensuring that their use of Study Slam complies with those requirements.
Security and system integrity
You must not:
- introduce viruses, malware, ransomware or other malicious software;
- attempt unauthorised access to Study Slam, user accounts or connected systems;
- interfere with the availability or performance of the Service;
- conduct denial-of-service or distributed denial-of-service attacks;
- bypass authentication, security controls or usage limits;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble Study Slam
- undertake penetration testing, vulnerability scanning or security research without prior written authorisation.
Data misuse
You must not:
- scrape, harvest or collect information by automated means without written permission;
- upload material that infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights;
- upload unlawful, defamatory, abusive, threatening, discriminatory or offensive content;
- impersonate another person;
- share account credentials with unauthorised individuals;
- send spam, unsolicited communications or promotional material through Study Slam.
Users are responsible for ensuring that any learning materials uploaded to Study Slam may lawfully be used for their intended educational purpose.
Fair use
Study Slam is provided to support genuine educational use.
You must not:
- reproduce or resell the Service without permission;
- exceed reasonable usage limits;
- use automated systems to generate excessive processing requests;
- misuse APIs or integrations to circumvent intended functionality;
- attempt to gain unfair access to system resources.
Where necessary to protect the Service and other users, OpenGenius may temporarily restrict excessive or abusive usage.
AI-enabled features
Study Slam includes AI-powered educational functionality designed to assist learning.
Users must not use AI features:
- to generate unlawful, harmful or abusive content;
- to create content intended to deceive or impersonate others;
- to generate phishing material, malware or cyberattack instructions;
- to infringe copyright or other intellectual property rights;
- to process personal information where doing so would breach applicable law;
- as a substitute for professional educational, legal, medical or other specialist advice.
AI-generated outputs:
- may contain inaccuracies;
- should always be reviewed before use;
- remain the responsibility of the user.
Users remain responsible for checking that AI-generated content is appropriate for their intended educational purpose.
Study Slam must not be used to make solely automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects on individuals.
Educational content
Study Slam enables users to upload educational materials including notes, documents and revision resources.
You must ensure that:
- you have appropriate rights to upload the material;
- your use complies with copyright and licensing requirements;
- confidential information is uploaded only where you have authority to do so;
- uploaded material complies with this Policy.
OpenGenius does not claim ownership of user learning materials.
Content standards
Any material uploaded, generated or shared through Study Slam must:
- be lawful;
- be accurate where factual;
- be genuinely held where opinion;
- comply with applicable law.
Content must not:
- contain unlawful, discriminatory or hateful material;
- promote violence, terrorism or criminal activity;
- contain sexually explicit or obscene material;
- infringe copyright, trademarks or other intellectual property rights;
- invade another person’s privacy;
- impersonate another individual;
- breach duties of confidentiality;
- mislead or deceive others;
- include unauthorised advertising or promotional content.
OpenGenius may retain logs or copies of content where reasonably necessary for security, compliance or investigation purposes, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Reporting misuse
Users are encouraged to report suspected misuse, harmful content or security concerns by contacting: support@studyslam.com
Where appropriate, reports will be investigated and action taken in accordance with our internal security and governance processes.
Breach of this Policy
Where we reasonably believe this Policy has been breached, we may take action including:
- issuing warnings;
- removing content;
- restricting or suspending accounts;
- limiting abusive activity;
- permanently terminating access;
- reporting unlawful activity to relevant authorities;
- taking legal action where appropriate.
The action taken will depend on the nature, severity and impact of the breach.
Failure to enforce any provision of this Policy on one occasion does not prevent us from enforcing it in future.
Governing law and jurisdiction
Consumers
This Policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Consumers resident elsewhere within the United Kingdom may have additional rights under applicable consumer legislation.
Business users
Where Study Slam is used on behalf of an organisation, this Policy and any non-contractual obligations arising from it are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Nothing in this Policy limits rights that cannot legally be excluded.
