Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using Study Slam
These Terms and Conditions explain the rules that apply when you access and use Study Slam, including our website, applications, software features and educational support services.
By using Study Slam, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and the other documents referenced within them. If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use Study Slam.
1. Who we are
Study Slam is an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled Software as a Service (SaaS) educational support and revision platform designed, developed and operated by OpenGenius Limited (“OpenGenius”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

2. Other documents that apply
These Terms and Conditions apply together with the following documents, which form part of your agreement with us where applicable:
- Our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use and protect personal information;
- Our Acceptable Use Policy, which sets out the rules for acceptable behaviour when using Study Slam;
- Our Software Licence Agreement, which sets out the rights and responsibilities relating to use of our software, intellectual property and customer content;
- Any subscription, education, institutional or other agreement that applies to your use of Study Slam;
Where there is a conflict between these Terms and Conditions and a separate written agreement agreed between OpenGenius and a customer, the terms of that written agreement will take precedence.
3. Accepting these Terms
By creating an account, accessing Study Slam or using any part of our service, you confirm that:
- you have read and understood these Terms and Conditions;
- you agree to comply with them;
- you have authority to accept these Terms if you are acting on behalf of an organisation.
Study Slam is currently intended for students aged 18 and over.
Study Slam may be provided as assistive technology to students who have been assessed as eligible for support through Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA).
Access through DSA arrangements does not change your responsibilities under these Terms and Conditions.
If you are using Study Slam through an organisation, educational provider or support arrangement, additional terms may apply.
You are responsible for ensuring that anyone who accesses Study Slam through your account or internet connection is aware of these Terms and complies with them.
4. Accessing Study Slam
Study Slam is provided as an online software service designed to support learning, revision and educational activities.
Features and functionality may change depending on the access arrangement available to you.
We may update, improve or modify Study Slam over time to:
- introduce new features;
- improve security and reliability;
- respond to user feedback;
- meet legal, regulatory or governance requirements;
- reflect changes in technology and educational practices.
We aim to maintain a high-quality service, but we do not guarantee that Study Slam or any individual feature will always be available without interruption.
We may occasionally need to:
- carry out maintenance;
- suspend parts of the service;
- make technical changes;
- withdraw features where necessary.
Where reasonably possible, we will provide notice of significant changes that materially affect your use of Study Slam.
5. Creating and managing an account
To use certain features of Study Slam, you may need to create an account or receive account access through an authorised onboarding process.
When creating or using an account, you must provide accurate and up-to-date information and keep your account details current.
You are responsible for:
- maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials;
- preventing unauthorised access to your account;
- ensuring information provided to us remains accurate.
You must not share your login credentials with others unless your access arrangement specifically permits shared access.
If you believe your account has been compromised, you should:
- change your password immediately;
- notify us as soon as possible at support@studyslam.com .
We may restrict, suspend or disable access where necessary, including where:
- these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy have been breached;
- there is a security concern;
- we are required to do so by law.
6. Account inactivity
We may delete accounts that have remained inactive for an extended period.
Where possible, we will provide reasonable notice before deleting inactive accounts.
Any account deletion process will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data retention requirements.
7. Using Study Slam content and website materials
We own, or have appropriate rights to use, the intellectual property in:
- www.studyslam.com and all other websites owned by OpenGenius Ltd;
- our branding;
- website content;
- software interfaces;
- documentation;
- materials made available by us.
These materials are protected by intellectual property laws.
You may:
- view website content for your personal or organisational use;
- share links to our website;
- share publicly available information about Study Slam with colleagues, educators or stakeholders.
You must not:
- copy, modify or reproduce our materials except where permitted;
- use our branding or materials in a misleading way;
- extract or reuse website content for commercial purposes without our permission.
This section does not apply to content you create or upload yourself using Study Slam. Rights relating to software use, uploaded learning materials and customer content are explained further in our Software Licence Agreement.
8. Access arrangements, subscriptions and payments
Study Slam may be made available through different access arrangements, including:
- Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) support arrangements;
- educational institution licences;
- organisational agreements;
- direct subscription services; or
- other access models introduced from time to time.
The features, pricing, billing frequency, eligibility requirements and limitations applicable to each access arrangement will be described at the point of access or within your license provider’s applicable agreement.
Where you access Study Slam through a paid subscription or commercial arrangement, you agree to:
- pay applicable fees;
- provide accurate billing information where required;
- ensure payments are made when due.
Subscription and payment terms may differ depending on whether you access Study Slam as an individual user, through an organisation or through a support arrangement.
9. Cancellation and refunds
Cancellation rights, withdrawal of access and refund arrangements may depend on how access to Study Slam has been provided.
Different arrangements may apply depending on whether access is provided through:
- Disabled Students’ Allowance support arrangements;
- an educational institution;
- an organisation;
- a direct subscription.
Where applicable, cancellation and refund terms will be explained at the point of purchase or within the relevant agreement.

Following cancellation or termination:
- your right to access Study Slam may end;
- your content may remain available for a limited period to allow recovery or export where applicable;
- information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and retention requirements.
10. Changes to Study Slam and these Terms
We regularly improve Study Slam to reflect:
- changes to our software;
- improvements requested by users;
- developments in artificial intelligence and educational technology;
- security requirements;
- legal, regulatory or governance requirements.
We may update these Terms from time to time.
Where changes are material and affect your rights or obligations, we will provide reasonable notice through appropriate channels, such as email or within Study Slam. By continuing to use Study Slam after updated Terms come into effect, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.
11. AI-enabled features and responsible use
Study Slam includes AI-enabled features designed to support learning and revision, including:
- AI tutoring support;
- AI-generated quizzes;
- AI-generated summaries;
- transformation of learning materials;
- creation of podcast-style audio content from uploaded materials;
- other AI-enabled educational features made available from time to time.
AI features are designed to assist learning and should not be treated as a replacement for:
- teaching;
- academic supervision;
- professional educational advice;
- independent study;
- human judgement.
Understanding AI-generated content
AI-generated outputs may:
- contain inaccuracies;
- be incomplete;
- reflect limitations or biases within underlying AI technologies;
- require review before being used for educational purposes.
You should always review AI-generated content before relying on it.
Your responsibilities when using AI features
When using AI features, you are responsible for:
- checking the accuracy and suitability of AI-generated outputs;
- ensuring outputs are appropriate for your intended educational use;
- applying appropriate judgement;
- complying with academic integrity requirements and institutional policies;
- ensuring AI-assisted work is used appropriately.
Academic integrity
Study Slam is designed to support learning and revision.
You remain responsible for complying with the academic rules, assessment requirements and AI usage policies of your educational institution.
You must not use Study Slam to misrepresent AI-generated content as your own work where this would breach academic requirements.
Our responsibilities
We are responsible for:
- providing AI features as described within Study Slam;
- applying reasonable safeguards to support secure and responsible use;
- maintaining appropriate oversight of our AI-enabled features and suppliers.
What we are not responsible for
We are not responsible for:
- decisions you make based on AI-generated outputs;
- failure to review, validate or declare AI-generated content;
- academic outcomes or assessment results;
- use of AI outputs that does not comply with your educational institution’s requirements.
AI providers and data protection
Some AI-enabled functionality within Study Slam may rely on third-party technology providers.
Information about:
- how AI features process information;
- the providers we use;
- international transfers;
- applicable safeguards;
is explained in our Privacy Policy.
OpenGenius does not use customer content submitted through Study Slam to train our own AI models.
12. Your responsibilities
When using Study Slam, you must:
- use the service lawfully and responsibly;
- comply with these Terms and our Acceptable Use Policy;
- maintain appropriate security of your account;
- ensure information you upload or create does not breach the rights of others;
- ensure uploaded educational materials are used lawfully;
- comply with academic integrity requirements applicable to your studies.
You are responsible for ensuring that Study Slam is suitable for your intended purpose before relying on it for important academic or educational activities.
13. Customer content
You retain ownership of content that you create or upload using Study Slam.
This may include:
- revision notes;
- lecture materials;
- study documents;
- educational resources;
- prompts and information provided to AI features.
We respect your ownership of your content and process it only as necessary to:
- provide Study Slam;
- maintain security;
- provide AI-enabled functionality selected by you;
- improve reliability;
- meet legal obligations.
The rights and permissions required for us to provide the service, including hosting, storage, processing and AI-enabled functionality, are explained further in our Software Licence Agreement and Privacy Policy.
You must ensure that any content you upload:
- complies with our Acceptable Use Policy;
- does not infringe another person’s rights;
- does not contain unlawful or harmful material;
- is content you are permitted to use.
You remain responsible for your content and how it is used.
Study Slam Terms and Conditions
14. Third-party services and integrations
Study Slam may rely on third-party services, applications, integrations or technology providers to deliver certain functionality.
Examples may include:
- artificial intelligence service providers;
- hosting and infrastructure providers;
- authentication services;
- analytics providers;
- other technical services required to operate and improve Study Slam.
Your use of third-party services may be subject to separate terms and privacy policies provided by those third parties.
We are not responsible for:
- third-party services that we do not operate;
- changes made by third-party providers;
- interruptions caused by third-party services outside our reasonable control.

15. Service availability and support
We aim to provide a reliable and secure service.
Availability, support response times and service commitments may vary depending on your access arrangement, subscription or contractual agreement.
Where applicable, service commitments may be described in a separate agreement.
Study Slam may depend on third-party infrastructure, hosting providers, artificial intelligence providers and technical services.
We will take reasonable steps to manage these dependencies and maintain service continuity.
16. Security, misuse and prohibited activity
We take reasonable measures to protect Study Slam and our users from security threats.
You must not:
- introduce viruses, malware or harmful code;
- attempt unauthorised access to Study Slam, systems or accounts;
- interfere with the availability or performance of the service;
- misuse Study Slam in breach of our Acceptable Use Policy;
- attempt to bypass security controls;
- attempt to access other users’ accounts or information;
- use Study Slam to generate, distribute or promote unlawful, harmful or inappropriate material.
We may suspend or restrict access where necessary to protect:
- our systems;
- our users;
- third parties;
- the security and integrity of Study Slam.
Where required, we may report unlawful activity to relevant authorities.

17. Intellectual property
All intellectual property rights in Study Slam, including:
- the software;
- platform;
- design;
- functionality;
- branding;
- documentation;
- related materials;
- underlying technology;
belong to OpenGenius or our licensors.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of our intellectual property to you.
Subject to these Terms and the Software Licence Agreement, we grant you the right to access and use Study Slam for the period and purpose permitted by your applicable access arrangement.
You must not:
- copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract source code from Study Slam except where permitted by law;
- reproduce, sell, distribute or commercially exploit Study Slam or any part of it;
- remove intellectual property notices or ownership information.
Any rights not expressly granted remain reserved.
18. External links and third-party content
Study Slam or our website may contain links to external websites, services or resources provided by third parties.
These links are provided for information only and do not mean that we endorse, approve or accept responsibility for those websites or their content.
We do not control:
- the availability of external websites;
- the accuracy of third-party information;
- third-party terms or privacy practices.
You should review the relevant terms and privacy policies before using third-party services.
19. Advice and information provided through Study Slam
Content made available through Study Slam or our website is provided for educational support and general information purposes only.
Study Slam is not intended to replace:
- teaching;
- academic supervision;
- professional educational advice;
- specialist advice where required.
You should obtain appropriate professional or educational guidance where necessary.
Although we make reasonable efforts to provide useful and accurate information, we do not guarantee that AI-generated or other content provided through Study Slam will always be complete, accurate or suitable for every purpose.
20. Study Slam access arrangements
Study Slam may be made available through different access models, including assistive technology support arrangements, educational institutions, organisations or direct subscriptions.
The availability of any particular access arrangement is not guaranteed and we may:
- change available features;
- introduce limitations;
- modify eligibility requirements;
- suspend or discontinue particular access routes.
Where reasonably possible, we will provide notice of significant changes.
Where Study Slam is provided through a third-party support arrangement, such as an assessment or institutional process, additional terms or requirements may apply.
21. Consumer and business users
Different rights and obligations may apply depending on whether you use Study Slam as an individual student, consumer, educational institution or organisation.
Consumer users
If you use Study Slam mainly for personal educational purposes, you may benefit from rights provided under applicable consumer protection laws.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot legally be excluded.
These rights may include:
- protections relating to digital services;
- cancellation rights;
- remedies where services do not meet applicable legal requirements.
Business, institutional and organisational users
If you use Study Slam for educational, professional or organisational purposes:
- these Terms apply on a business-to-business basis unless otherwise agreed;
- you are responsible for ensuring Study Slam meets your requirements;
- you should ensure appropriate internal controls are in place for use of the service.
Where you have entered into a separate agreement with OpenGenius, that agreement will apply.
22. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to Study Slam where:
- you materially breach these Terms;
- you breach our Acceptable Use Policy;
- continued access creates a security, legal or operational risk;
- we are required to do so by law.
Where appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve issues before termination.
Following termination:
- your right to access Study Slam will end;
- your data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable retention periods;
- you remain responsible for any outstanding fees owed before termination.
23. Our liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Consumer users
If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.
Business and organisational users
To the extent permitted by law, OpenGenius is not responsible for:
- indirect or consequential losses;
- loss of profits, revenue, business opportunity or anticipated savings;
- loss of reputation;
- losses caused by reliance on AI-generated content where appropriate review has not taken place;
- academic outcomes, examination results or educational decisions.
We are not responsible for failures caused by factors outside our reasonable control, including third-party services, internet connectivity or circumstances beyond our control.
Specific liability provisions may apply where agreed within an education, institutional or enterprise agreement.
24. Privacy and data protection
We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Our Privacy Policy explains:
- what information we collect;
- how we use information;
- how we protect information;
- your rights relating to personal data;
- how AI-enabled features and third-party services may process information.
You should read our Privacy Policy alongside these Terms.

We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe.
If we cannot resolve your complaint, we will explain the reasons and provide information about any further steps available.
26. Governing law and jurisdiction
Consumers
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you may also have rights to bring proceedings in your local courts where applicable.
Business users
For business customers, these Terms and any non-contractual obligations arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction unless otherwise agreed in writing.
